Ways to practice sight words at home: - Fill a cookie sheet with shaving cream and use a finger to trace the words. -Build words with scrabble tiles, out of Legos, magnet letters on the fridge. - Write sight words on post-its and place them around the house. Every time you see one, you have to say the word as fast as you can. - Memory game with sight words on index cards PLEASE NOTE: Sight words are meant to be recognized by SIGHT within 3 seconds when being assessed for the report card. Opinion Writing
The goal is to learn to write an opinion piece that: 1. Tells an opinion about something (Example: "The best animal to have as a pet is a dog.") 2. Give at least 3 reasons with examples to support that opinion (Example: "You should have a dog as a pet because they are man's best friend. They can play many different games with you. They are loyal and sweet. Plus, their fur is cuddly and makes them fun to snuggle with.") 3. Provide a closing sentence (Example: "Now you can see why dogs are the best pet to have! Go take a look at your local animal shelter today so that you can adopt one!" le Examples of Opinion WritingNarrative
